Osechi is something that Japanese families make at the end of the year in preparation for New Years.  My mother told me that these are made so that we have something to eat for the first three days of the year when all the stores are closed for the Holidays (which pretty much isn’t the case anymore because a lot of places are open nowadays.  For the “right” information, please look at wikipedia because I don’t really know much more than what my mom told me and what goes in the osechi box.  This year since I had all the time in the world, I decided to make it for the family 🙂

Took me all day to make everything and place them nicely into the square boxes.  Everything came out delicious, but I think next year, I’ll go for something a bit smaller…

Happy New Year Everyone!
